WELCOME . . . .
Welcome…..a brief guide to Touched Therapies:-
Aromatherapy:- Essential oils contain distinct therapeutic properties which help to prevent disease. Research has found the oils to possess: Stimulant, anti-inflammatory, pain relieving and relaxant properties, among many others, the list is endless!
The aromatherapy massage allows the aroma of essential oils to calm the mind therefore relaxing the nervous system.
The body absorbs the oil through the skin assisting in the healing process.
Combining essential oils with those of therapeutic massage produces pleasurable yet effective method of healing.
Together they enhance the circulation of blood and lymph, relax and release tense tired muscles and promote a sense of overall vitality. Relaxed and refreshed, we are able to face life’s challenges with a renewed sense of balance and confidence
Indian Head Massage:- Massage is part of inherent rituals in Indian life spanning across generations. Techniques practised today have evolved from this rich tradition of family grooming. The main founder of Indian Head massage in the West is Narendra Mehta. He came to England in the ’70s and was dismayed to find that the head seemed to be a completely neglected area of the body even in a full body massage.
He decided to develop a holistic massage system that would focus on the head, neck and shoulders helping to dispel tension and the accumulation of stress.
Facial Rejuvenation:- The technique is a light gentle touch that relaxes the facial muscles, acting on the connective tissue to untangle and mobilise the fibres, encouraging the ground substance (a gelatine-like structure) to loosen up and become fluid.
The skin is made up mainly of connective tissue which is formed from elastin and collagen. Together the 2 types of fibre give structure and suppleness to the skin, keeping flesh smooth and taught.
Facial rejuvenation restores skin suppleness by toning the collagen and elastin fibres resulting in soft, supple skin, improving skin tone and releasing muscle tension
Childrens’ ‘Nurturing Touch’ has been developed from the Massage In Schools programme vision which is that every child attending school experience positive and nurturing touch every day…everywhere in the world. Touched Therapies believe this can be extended to all educational environments where appropriate.
The Massage In Schools programme originated in Sweden.
It is for children between 4 – 11years and provides massage for & by each other.
The children have to ask and receive permission before the routine can take place and must acknowledge their thanks at the end of the routine.
While giving and receiving the routine a calm state develops in each and every child. This calmness allows oxytocin to be released into the blood which in turn triggers the parasympathetic nervous system – this controls the levels of blood and oxygen released to the organs – resulting in healthy, happy, children.
